All events organized by Zermatt - Matterhorn
Zermatt, the most famous mountain village with the most photographed mountain in the world. Here you can meet mountaineers, skiers, pleasure and nature lovers.
Mountaineers climb the Matterhorn (4,478 m.a.s.l.) fascinated by the traces of the first climber Edward Whymper, who in 1865 managed to reach the top of the mountain via the famous Hörnligrat.
Guests can easily reach the centre of the Alpine village by train. Zermatt has always been car-free. Here you can walk in summer and winter or use the small electric taxis that carry your luggage through the narrow alleys to the hotels and holiday flats. Zermatt is a pioneer in sustainability: many companies (hotels, restaurants, ski lifts etc.) have been committed to responsible resource management for decades: water, electricity, transport, waste management, building technology.
360 kilometres of slopes await winter sports enthusiasts, who can ski on the slopes on both the Swiss and Italian side of the Matterhorn from early morning until late afternoon. In the summer ski area on the Theodul glacier there are still 21 kilometres of slopes on snowy ground. This means: snow sports are available 365 days a year in Zermatt.
Winter hikers and snowshoe trekkers can also enjoy the snowy surroundings. In summer there are also over 400 km of marked hiking trails available. High-quality gastronomy awaits guests in the village, in the hotels and on the hiking trails and ski slopes in the mountains: 17 restaurants combine a total of 242 Gault-Millau points.
